Blues push for Dortmund duo: Chukwuemeka swap plus £51m goalkeeper swoop
Chelsea is on the race to rebuild and become a formidable club next season. With the chase for Dortmund's duo, Chelsea hopes to sign Gittens and Gregor Kobel ahead of the 2015-2026 season.
What Happened?
Chelsea has reach out to Dortmund over a potential swap deal with Dortmund for Jamie Bynoe-Gittens. If the deal works out as planned, Carney Chukwuemeka will be moving to the bundesliga side on a parmanent deal and Gittens will be coming down to stamford bridege.
The England international joined Chelsea from Aston Villa back in 2022, however, the English international has struggled to get playing time due to the high competition in Chelsea's midfield. As it stands right now, Chukwemeka is currently on loan at Dortmund and could now stay there as part of a mutual agreement between both clubs.
The Bigger Picture
The chase for Gittens is not just on the Blues' radar; Arsenal is also in the race to sign Gittens. With information reaching us at Sport Pyramid it shows that Arsenal has taken the lead in the race to sign Gittens. However, as things are going right now, it looks like Arsenal will probably back out of the deal as Dortmund has placed a whooping €100 million (£85m) price tag on Gittens. Arsenal believes that the price tag is outrageous and they see it as excessive. With this new development, it looks like Chelsea will be having Gittens at Stamford Bridge in exchange for Chukwuemeka as a makeweight in the deal to bring the exciting winger to London.
Chelsea is also looking at signing Gregor Kobel as a long term solution for their future plan of building under Maresca's plans. The Swiss internationalis recognized as one of Bundesliga's most consistent goal keeper in the league. Things looks like Gregor is open and ready for new challenge in the premier league as well as the Champions League if chelsea is to qualify.
An important detail we got from BILD Reports shows that the negotiation for Kobel is already on and they are making good progress. However, their discussion shows that KObel is a high stake "Poker Game". The bundesliga side is demanding around €60m (£51m) for their No.1, a significant outlay but potentially justifiable if Chelsea can move on one of their existing goalkeepers and return to the elite European stage.
Did You Know?
Jamie Bynoe-Gittens is just 19 years of age, and people consider him to be the version of Jadon Sancho due to his style of play. Gittens was also part of the Manchester City academy, where he started his sporting career.
Carney Chukwemeka has only played 12 Premier League matches for Chelsea FC before being loaned out.
Kobel has kept a total of 11 clean sheets this season in the Bundesliga in 27 appearances so far.
What's Next?
After losing 2:0 to Newcastle United, Chelsea has just two matches left before the season closes. This means for the Blues to qualify for the Champions League, they need to win all their last two matches with the hope that Newcastle or Manchester City to lose their remaining matches. This is going to be a very big showdown as the Blues will be facing Manchester United in their last Premier League Match. The chances of Chelsea qualifying for the Champions League are very slim at the moment, but miracles still happen. Chelsea is also having the Europa Conference League final, which they must win if they want to qualify for the Europa League.
Now that Dortmund is missing the Champions League, they have no option but ti sell of some of their player such as Gittens and Kobel.
